First day of vegan MoFo: Czech goodies Giveaway

This is my very first giveaway. I put together some Czech imported goodies that you cannot usually buy in USA. It is an assortment of tea samples (to name a few: black currant with lemon, plum with elderberry and vanilla, or mango peach Rooibos), herbal candy samples, instant puddings (chocolate, banana and coconut-can be used with almost any non-dairy milk), instant garlic soup (great when you have a cold or flu), and my favorite traditional gingerbread spice mixture (this very aromatic mix can be use in gingerbread cookies or other baked goods). All items are vegan and I will gladly provide translation for ingredients or directions.
The garlic soup has a picture of eggs on the cover, but there are no eggs in the soup. They suggest putting eggs in the soup (for vegetarians and meat eaters), but you can make it without the eggs.
Do you want these goodies? To enter, please leave a comment bellow. Tell me what is your favorite natural remedy for cold?
This giveaway is open to anyone, but in order to win you need to be a FOLLOWER of my blog. So before you leave a comment make sure you are a follower and use the "follow" button on the side. The giveaway starts today and ends next Monday evening. I will pick a random post from the week and one random commenter-follower from that post will win the giveaway goodies.

  1. AWESOME give-away and a FAB start to MoFo.
My favourite cold remedy is a hot toddy - whiskey, cloves, lemon juice and brown sugar with some hot water.
    Happy MoFo!

  2. Fabulous idea ;)
Hope you had a great vegan Halloween!
What can we do about all those poor Thanksgiving turkeys being slaughtered as we speak?

  3. I love your Halloween post below!
My favorite cold remedy is ginger tea. I drink a lot of it when sick.

  4. Ooo.. I don't have a google account, so I can't follow that way. But I did subscribe to your RSS feed. Hope that's ok.

My favourite cold remedy is also a hot toddy. Gin, freshly squeezed lemon juice, a bit of agave syrup, then top it all off with hot water.

  5. My cure for a cold is a glass of lemon juice, water, cayenne pepper, and herbal tea. It sounds weird, but it knocks my allergies and viruses right out!

(love the blog by the way)

  6. When I'm sick I make soup with as much ginger, garlic, and crushed red pepper as I can stand. I also drink tons of water and ginger tea.

  8. My favorite cold remedy is echinacea, but black currant juice is a close second. :)

I just found your blog - one of the biggest reasons I like the vegan MoFo (I also found so many great blogs last year).

PS. I'm a private follower of your blog (I assume you can still see me?).

  9. Happy MoFo! I love finding new blogs to read. :)

Here's a recipe for a natural homemade cough syrup: Scoop out one black radish so that there's a small hole in the tip. Fill it with rock sugar and put it on top of a tumbler that's just to narrow for it to fall through. Leave overnight. The sugar will dissolve and drip into the glass along with the juice of the radish. It doesn't even taste bad, and it works!

  10. Nice blog!

I like nice hot liquids when I'm sick. So tea such as peppermint tea or some miso soup.

  11. Elisabeth,
I am so glad that Vegan MoFo lead me to you! My mother-in-law is Czech but not at all vegan, so this is a great way for us to overlap interests. Not that there's any issues with that LOL but it's always nice to find new things to share :) I'm looking forward to reading your posts and trying your recipes.

As for cold remedies...I'm a huge fan of liquids and rest. I also make extra effort to cut out junk and eat nutrient dense food if I feel something coming on. I've avoided most of what gets passed around our office so what I do seems to work out well for me.

  12. I like tons of tea and broth when I have a cold. And lots of sleep, and kitties to snuggle (not to eat).

  13. When I'm sick I have this ratty old sweatshirt that was my husbands. I swear it makes me feel better. That and some garlicky tofu noodle soup. :)

  14. My favorite cold remedy is lots and lots of green tea. When I was in a band I would also eat insane amounts of crystallized ginger to soothe my throat.

  16. Hi! I juice carrots, with fresh ginger, some cinnamon, an apple and a few almonds. Taking a few zinc tablets daily also helps.

  17. An echinacea tincture works well for me, and olive leaf extract or olive leaf tea - both are really good just as a preventative measure too.

Other than that, lots of fresh fruit and veggies, lots of water, and heaps of garlic :)
